Women in court for assault

Judges-and-MagistratesAjumako (C/R), Jan. 16, GNA – The Ajumako Circuit Court has granted bail to a 30-year-old mother of three Sarah Aidoo and a hairdresser, Esther Amissah, 29, in a sum of GHc1,000 with two sureties each to reappear on January 27.

They pleaded not guilty on charges of causing harm and aiding and abetment of crime.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Bismark Appiah told the court, presided over by Madam Patience Abloh, that on October 30, 2011, at about 1330 hours, Esther Amissah led Sarah Aidoo from Ajumako to Assasan, on suspicion that her husband was having an affair with one Miss Agnes Mensah.

He said Esther Amissah instructed a 12-year-old school boy, Hayford Ananse to lead Sarah Aidoo to Miss Agnes Mensah’s house.

At Miss Agnes Mensah’s house Sarah Aidoo intentionally attacked Miss Agnes Mensah with a sharp blade and slashed her face several times, causing Agnes to bleed profusely and was later rushed to the Ajumako District Hospital, where she was admitted for three days.

A report was made to the Police and upon arrest and investigations the two accused women were charged with the offence.

A picture of the deformed face of Miss Agnes Mensah was tendered as evidence at the court.
