University of Environment & Sustainable Development won’t be moved

Somanya (E/R), Nov. 23, GNA – President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffu-Addo has assured the chiefs and people of Yilo Krobo Traditional Area that the University of Environment and Sustainable Development is not going to be moved from Somanya.

The Administration, Vice Chancellor’s office and residence would be built in Somanya and no other place.

The President said this when he address a mini-durbar of chiefs and people of Yilo Krobo at the campus of the university as part of his three-day tour of the Eastern Region.
It afforded him the opportunity to receive first hand information about the progress of work on the project.

President Akufo-Addo said he was confident of returning to area in next year July, to officially inaugurate the University.

He urged the people to ignore rumours going round that his government would relocate the university to Bunso.

He said although he was from Akyem Abuakwa, he was the President for the whole country.

He also toured the Akosombo Textile Factory, where he told the workers that everything would be done to revive the Ghanaian textile industry.
His Administration would put in place the right policies to achieve just that, to create jobs for the people.

President Akufo-Addo later inspected the Kete Krachi Timber Recovery Limited, established under the One District One Factory Policy at Sedom, on the banks of the Volta Lake.

The company has been harvesting hard wood from the Lake.
The President repeated that he would keep faith with Ghanaians by delivering on the election campaign promises he made to them.

The Omanhene of the Akwamu Traditional Area, Nana Kwarfo Akoto III, appealed to the government to provide the Ajena Senior High School with the needed infrastructure.
