Wa, Jan. 14, GNA – The television network TV3, one of the leading private television stations in Ghana, has extended its services to the Upper West Region.
Communities which fall within 45 kilometers from Wa can now enjoy programmes of the network which is currently operating on a 2kw transmitter.
Mr. Cezar Kale, Caretaker Deputy Upper West Regional Minister who commissioned the station on Monday in Wa thanked management of TV3 for seeing the need to extend their services to the Region.
Mr. Kale also commended the Member of Parliament (MP) for Wa Central, Alhaji Abdul-Rashid Pelpuo for the role he played in persuading the Management of the television network to consider extending their services to the region.
According to the MP, the people of the region who had been yearning for the services of  TV3 for a very long time now because of the quality programmes, would now be happy to enjoy them.
He urged management of the network  to ensure quality transmission in the Region.
Mr. Sherif Nanor, an Engineer at TV3 gave the assurance that by June this year the transmission would be increased from the initial 2kw to 5kw which, according to him, would cover most parts of the region.
He said one of the problems that they encountered had to do with getting a tower of about 78 meters in height to mount the receivers and also the location of Wa, the regional capital.
Mr. Nanor said currently the tower they were using was about 52meters which was not high enough.
He said if they got a 78-meter tower they would be able to cover the whole region when they install a 5kw transmitter by June this year.
Alhaji Yakubu Duogu, Wa Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) called on the management of TV3 to ensure sustainability of transmission in the region.
