Nigerian arrested at Elubo trafficking three ladies

 

Elubo (W/R), Dec. 4, GNA – The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of the Ghana Immigration Service at the Elubo Border in the Western Region has arrested a Nigerian woman who attempted to traffic three young Nigerian ladies to Cote d’ Ivoire for prostitution.

The woman, Madam Mercy Onorniyi and the ladies Gloria Okoe, 24 , from Edo State, Blessing Atonie, 19, and Joy Osato Osazuma, 20, both from Benin State, have been sent to the Migration Headquarters for further investigation.

Government supports Tamale-Savelugu Accident victims with GHS10,000

 

savelugu accidentGovernment has presented GH¢ 10,000 cheque to accident victims of the Tamale-Savelugu Highway road crash that occurred on Saturday November 26, last month.

The money is to be used to settle bills of the injured and also support the bereaved family towards the burial service of the 28 people who died.

Kweku Baako fights in Nduom’s corner;

says there’s no better potential CPP flagbearer than Nduom

kwaku baakoEditor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul Malik Kweku Baako Jnr, says the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) has no better candidate to lead it in the 2012 elections than Dr Paa Kwesi Nduom, who was the party’s flag bearer in the 2008 elections.

Dr Nduom, according to Kweku Baako, is better placed than other contender for the flagbearership slot to win the race because he has demonstrated unmatched commitment to the success of the party.

CEPA urges government to fast-track SSPP implemntation

 

Centre-for-Policy-Analysis1The Centre for Policy Analysis (CEPA) has urged the government to tactfully combine fiscal discipline with stimulus economic policies in its bid to build on a sustained macro-economic environment.

In that regard, it has called on the government to fast-track the implementation of the Single Spine Pay Policy (SSPP) before Election 2012, as delayed implementation could prompt labour unrest, pile up the public sector wage bill and in effect destabilise the entire macro-economic environment.

Okyeman Youth fingers Atta Kyea in Okyeman crises

 

Daniel Marfo Ofori-AttaThe Okyeman Youth Association has accused the Member of Parliament for Abuakwa South, Mr Samuel Atta Kyea and his “hoodlums”, for disturbing the peace of Kyebi and provoking a near chieftaincy crisis.

According to the youth, they take serious exception to the assistance, endorsement, patronage and encouragement provided by the MP, who happens to be a senior member of the Royal Asona Family of Kyebi to Nana Adjei Boateng who accused the Okyenhene of dabbling in illegal gold mining operations.

Gabby scoffs at govt’s attempt to reverse sinking education standards

Results released by the West African Examination Council show that over half of the students who sat for this year’s Basic Education Certificate Exams failed and could not proceed to the Second Cycle Education.

I won’t give Okyehene 72 sheep

sheepOKYENHENE’S ACCUSER, Odehye Kwame Agyei Boateng, stormed Kyebi on Saturday, a day after the Abuakwa Traditional Council fined him 72 sheep and 36 cartons of schnapps for denigrating and desecrating the Ofori Panin stool.

He went there ostensibly to swear the ‘Okyeman Ntamkese’ oath right in front of the Okyenhene’s palace and dared Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin again to do same if indeed he did not know anything about the galamsey activities going on at Kyebi and its environs.

Two Ivorians remanded for stealing vehicle

 

car stealing-black manThe Half Assini District Magistrate Court on Thursday remanded two Ivoirians into prison custody for stealing a vehicle in Cote d’Ivoire and bringing it to Ghana.

Traole Ibrahim, mechanic and Yakini Bukari, a businessman, both from Abidjan-Koumassi, in Cote d’Ivoire, pleaded not guilty and the Court presided over by Mr Hans Kofi Kpogo ordered them to re-appear on Dec. 8, 2011.
