Remand prisoner granted bail



3001.729619Ajumako (C/R), Jan. 16, GNA – A 38-year-old hunter from Fawomanye in the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam District of the Central Region, Yaw Donkor who has been in prison custody since 2010, has been granted bail in the sum of GHc20,000 with three sureties to reappear on February 10.

     Yaw Donkor faces a murder charge for mistaking a fellow hunter for a game and shooting him to death.

     The suspect was brought to the court on the initiative of the District Police Commander, Deputy Superintendent of Police Seth Tay, because of his long stay in prison and also to ease congestion at the prisons.

      The court, presided over by Madam Patience Ablorh, advised the police to liaise with the Attorney-General’s Office and come out with recommendations to enable the Judiciary carry out its duties in the interest of justice and peace.
