Pusiga (UE) Jan. 25, GNA – Hajia Laadi Ayamba, Deputy National Propaganda Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been elected as the party’s parliamentary candidate for Pusiga in the 2012 General Election.
She said improving education would be her priority when she is elected.
She explained that as a teacher she would focus on education in her developmental agenda to up lift the falling standards of education.
Hajia Ayamba who was speaking to the Ghana News Agency on Wednesday said she has the intention to institute a girl- child and brilliant but needy child educational fund to encourage female children to get formal education.
She said young people are agents of development and she would take steps to institute policies on skills training that would help develop the potential of the youth.
She said she is on the move to support women who have been identified as keepers of the home and to expose them to skills such as shea-butter extraction, weaving, basketry and pot making to promote their socio-economic development.
Hajia Ayamba noted that the Pusiga area had been noted for its giant economic activities but for the poor road network.
She pledged to improve on the roads to enable traders to boost economic activities.
She called on the electorate in the constituency to vote massively for the NDC in the forthcoming presidential and parliamentary elections in order for them to enjoy the Better Ghana Agenda.
Hajia Ayamba, also Chairperson of the Board of Directors for the Pusiga College of Education contested with three male contestants and polled 89 votes while, Mr Simon Akunye the incumbent MP, got 38 votes, Mr George Azuugu, got 47 and Mr Aboko Akudugu, 81 votes.
