Oguaa court remands woman who hid ‘wee’ in food flask for hubby in prison



Cape Coast, Nov. 6, GNA- A 28-year old trader, Esther Owusu, who hid wrappers of Indian hemp in a stew container she was sending to her husband who had been imprisoned, was on Tuesday remanded into police custody by a Circuit Court in Cape Coast.
     She pleaded not guilty to possessing narcotic drugs and would be re-arraigned on November 13.
     Prosecuting, Mr. Ben Ansah Agyemfra, State Attorney told the court on March 13 Esther visited her husband, who is serving 109 years imprisonment for robbery at the Ankaful Maximum Security Prisons.
      He said prison officers conducted a search on her at the gate and found 111 wrappers of dried leaves and 10 packets of cigarettes in a hidden compartment of a food flask containing the stew and meant for her husband.
     Mr. Agyemfra said she was arrested and handed over to the Elmina Police and upon further inquiries she told the police that the stew was given to her by her husband’s friend in Accra to be given to him.
