Accra, Dec. 3, GNA – Medeama reclaimed top spot of the 2012/2013 Premier League whilst Asante Kotoko maintained their unbeaten run in arguably the high points of the Week 10 matches played over the weekend.
For Medeama, it was their first win at their favourite T & A Park in Tarkwa since a similar scoreline win over Berekum Chelsea in Week Four, and also serves the right tonic to douse concerns over the future of head coach Bashir Hayford.
The Tarkwa-based club had Kabiru Moro to thank for nailing their sixth win of the season and takes their tally to 20 points, one more than Aduana Stars.
Aduana, lost their grip on the top spot after being held to a one all draw at Berekum by Arsenals. Both goals came in the first half with James Boadu scoring for Arsenals on seven minutes before central defender John Ashong leveled for Aduana.
At the Robert Mensah Stadium in Cape Coast, Kotoko and Dwarfs settled for a barren draw, with the defending champions, keeping hold of their enviable record of not having lost a match this term.
It was draw number seven for the Porcupine Warriors and keeps them four point adrift of the leaders.
Hearts of Oak coach David Duncan tasted defeat for the first time after visiting AshantiGold plucked the maximum points with a lone goal victory. Midfielder Aaron Amoah scored the only goal of the match on 27 minutes to hand the Miners the first win in four matches.
It was double blow for Hearts of Oak, who finished the game with 10-men after defender Nuru Sulley was sent off. Despite, the numerical disadvantage, the Phobians displayed a spirited performance, but was not enough to earn them at least a point.
All Stars force yet another bitter pill down the throat of Real Tamale United, thrashing them 3-0 at the Wa Park. The homers, experiencing an off-colour start moved up the ladder courtesy a hat-trick from Seidu Salifu. RTU, still without a win remain at the depth of the standings after amassing four points from 10 games.
In the Tema derby, Yahaya Mohammed once again stole the headlines, with a goal to take his tally to eight in the 10-week old league. Mohammed restored parity for debutants Amidaus Professionals after Francis Narh shot Tema Youth up after just seven minutes.
New Edubiase secured their fourth win of the season beating Liberty Professionals 1-0 at the Nana Gyamfi Park in Bekwai. The homers had to wait till nine minutes from time before Ebenezer Ofori settled matters by converting a spot kick.
Meanwhile, the match between King Faisal and Berekum Chelsea was abandoned due to a downpour in the second half. The match will be replayed on Monday at the same venue, Baba Yara Stadium.
