Kufuor condemns Kofi Wayo’s lies

Accra, Oct 5, GNA – The Office of Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has said the former President had never had a meeting with Mr Kofi Wayo at which he was alleged to have made certain statements about the presidential candidate of the New patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. A statement signed by the former President’s Spokesperson, Mr Frank Agyekum, said the Office had taken note of an allegation attributed to him by Mr. Wayo, leader of the United Renaissance Party, at “a trumped up meeting between the two sometime ago.” “Former President Kufuor categorically denies having any such meeting with Mr. Wayo at anytime anywhere,” the statement said. It said the said meeting and assertions attributed to him are a figment of the imagination of Mr. Wayo and his likes aimed at poisoning the very cordial relations between the Former President and Nana Akufo –Addo. The statement said former President Kufuor was committed to the success of Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP in next December’s elections and would work hard to ensure this. “The Former President urges all to ignore such falsehoods aimed at sewing seeds of confusion in the NPP and distracting the Party from its forward march to Victory 2012.”
