Half Assini (W/R), July 13, GNA – The Jomoro District Electoral Office has moved into a permanent office complex after years of operating in a rented house.
The new office is situated at the District Administration premises.
Mr Kwabena Asante, Jomoro District Electoral Officer told the Ghana News Agency that it was good the permanent structure was coming in about five month to go for the country’s general elections.
He expressed the hope that the elections would be smoothly conducted in the district, given the new office.
Mr Asante said the office block provided by the Electoral Commission (EC) consist of district officers’ office, a general office, a store room, a conference hall and two washrooms.
He said the office has enough space for election materials and personnel as compared to the previous rented office which was only an office and a hall thus making their work difficult.
“Now with a new office block election materials can be distributed inside the building unlike the old office where it was always done in the open under heavy security guards,” he added.
The Electoral Officer said the new building has been properly secured to provide safety for election materials.
He commended the EC for providing the facility and said it would go a long way to enhance their work.
