Bolgatanga, April 13, GNA – The Bolgatanga Traditional Council has called on the authorities handling the Bolgatanga chieftaincy dispute to expedite action in resolving the longstanding issue to help restore peace in the area.
Naba Awuni A. Johnson, the Acting President of the Council, at a Press Conference in Bolgatanga on Friday, said fast-tracking the legal processes involved would help put the matter to rest and pave way for peace and development.
“We understand the legal process needs to be followed critically and systematically as the wheels of justice are known to grind slowly. Notwithstanding the consciousness of this fact, we call on all stakeholders involved in finding a solution to this dispute to hasten the processes for a resolution of the issue”, he said.
The Traditional Council urged all the factions involved in the dispute to exercise restraint and remain calm since the issue was before the Upper East Regional House Chiefs, and impressed upon the security agencies to remain vigilant and to deal with any indiividual or group of persons who would want to abuse the law.
On behalf of the Traditional Council, Naba Johnson expressed condolences to the families of victims of the recent violent clashes between the two factions which led to the death of one person, while others sustained various degrees of injury.
He commended the security agencies for their swift response to the violence of April 3.
