Collaborative Support Needed To Make Education Revealing

a poor school building in the tongo district of Upper East RegionKpando, Jan. 15, GNA-Colonel Cyril Necku (rtd), Deputy Volta Regional Minister, on Friday said that the Government needed absolute support from communities and stakeholders to make the national education enterprise revealing.

      He stressed “there should be a joint responsibility sharing between government and stakeholders” with one of such collaboration being the establishment of traditional education endowment funds to support poor and brilliant children.

      Col Necku said this during the inauguration of development projects at Kpando and Wusuta in the Kpando district.

      The new projects are; a six-unit and a three-unit classroom blocks worth GHc 148,433 and GHc 90,571  for Wusuta E. P. Primary and Kpando-Todzi Presbyterian Junior High Schools respectively.

      Others are the expansion of the Kpando District Finance Office complex and the access roads linking the Assembly to decentralized outfits worth GHc 66,486 and GHc 199,971 respectively.

      Funding was sought from the District Development Fund (DDF), Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFUND) and the Assembly’s Common Fund (DACF).

      Col Necku said the Government was poised in laying the requisite infrastructure that would shore up the dwindling fortunes in the sector, urging stakeholders to redouble their commitments.

      Mr Francis Ganyaglo, Kpando District Chief Executive, said 25 schools under trees out of the 50 schools in that category have been eliminated.

      He disclosed that his administration was forging a close collaboration with the District Directorate of Education to reverse the downward trends of education standards.

     Mr Ganyaglo appealed to Chiefs to rise up to solving accommodation problems, which usually is a drawback to acceptance of postings of teachers.

     Ms Dora Agorsor, Kpando Director of Education, commended the Assembly for its steadfastness and continuous support to the sector, pleading for high maintenance culture to secure the buildings for posterity.

     She anticipated that the new structures would stimulate students to perform better previous occasions in dilapidated blocks.

      Mrs Vivian Doe-Ablorsu, Volta Regional Manageress of Presbyterian Schools, said state-Church collaboration was yielding desired dividends and called for further strengthening of the partnerships for rapid development.

      The Headteachers of the beneficiary institutions paid glowing tribute to government, Kpando District Assembly, Education Directorate and other stakeholders for their thoughtfulness, which had brought relief to them.

      They requested furniture, electricity connection, library and computer laboratory to make teaching and learning more purposeful.
