Two Ivorians remanded for stealing vehicle

 

car stealing-black manThe Half Assini District Magistrate Court on Thursday remanded two Ivoirians into prison custody for stealing a vehicle in Cote d’Ivoire and bringing it to Ghana.

Traole Ibrahim, mechanic and Yakini Bukari, a businessman, both from Abidjan-Koumassi, in Cote d’Ivoire, pleaded not guilty and the Court presided over by Mr Hans Kofi Kpogo ordered them to re-appear on Dec. 8, 2011.

I won’t give Okyehene 72 sheep

sheepOKYENHENE’S ACCUSER, Odehye Kwame Agyei Boateng, stormed Kyebi on Saturday, a day after the Abuakwa Traditional Council fined him 72 sheep and 36 cartons of schnapps for denigrating and desecrating the Ofori Panin stool.

He went there ostensibly to swear the ‘Okyeman Ntamkese’ oath right in front of the Okyenhene’s palace and dared Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori Panin again to do same if indeed he did not know anything about the galamsey activities going on at Kyebi and its environs.

Government to pay home-made power producers

 

solar panelBuying a solar panel is now the best investment a householder can make as the government is set to introduce a feed-in-tariff into the power sector following the passage of the renewable energy bill.

This will oblige electricity companies to pay people an amount yet to be determined for the power they produce at home from renewable energy sources such as solar or wind, and a further payment will be given for any electricity fed into the grid. The money will come from customers in the form of higher bills.

Ghanaian workers of oil firm locked out for demanding salary raise

The workers for some time now have been calling for salary adjustments and other benefits but were hit by a lockout by their employers.

The Western Regional Manager of the General Transport and Chemical Workers Union of the TUC named only as Sallah told Joy News that the local content policy of the country is not being adhered to.

E-Talk Limited sues Milicom Ghana

 

tigo logoA telecommunication product distribution company has commenced an action at the Commercial Division of the Accra High Court against Millicom Ghana Limited, claiming general damages of more than $23 million for breach of contract.

The plaintiff, E-Talk Limited, is also claiming special damages of $6,633,000 from the defendant, being revenue in the form of commissions that the plaintiff lost as a result of the illegal termination of an agreement between the two parties.

Ken Agyapong must control public outburst-Kofi Wayo

 

kofi-wayo2Charles Kofi Wayo has described the MP for Assin north in the Central Region Kennedy Agyapong “as mentally incorrect”.

Kofi Wayo said “it is an open secret that the legislator is suffering from mental instability based on his utterances”.

Kofi Wayo maintained that Kennedy Agyapong’s continuous outburst in public make people think Parliament is a joke and advised the MP to be polite with his utterances.

Kofi Wayo said this in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem on Monday in reaction to allegations leveled against him by the MP.

Abuga Pele clarifies NYEP payment schedules

 

2501.347326Accra, Nov. 27, GNA – Mr Abuga Pele, National Coordinator of the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) has called on coordinators of the Programme to pay all interns who do not have appointment letters but have introductory letters and have their names on their pay roll.

This according to him, such beneficiaries are genuine but might have either misplaced their appointment letters were not issued with one.

Some officials of the department, it was discovered, have forgone their core duties under the Rent Act, 1963 (act 220) and the Rent Control Act 1986 (PNDCL 138) by establishing a system of lawlessness that gives room to bribery and corruption to pursue their agenda.
