250 Non Formal Education facilitators attend workshop to upgrade skills

Wa, Feb. 15, GNA – The Non Formal Education Division (NFED) of the Ministry of Education has organised a week training workshop for facilitators in the Upper West Region to upgrade their skills in functional literacy.

The 250 participants selected from the nine districts in the region would be taken through various topics including: “The Facilitator in Literacy Delivery,” “Facilitating Reading and Writing”, as well as “Picture Discussion and Income Generating Activities” among other topics.

Madam Fati Korey, a Deputy Director at the Regional Coordinating Council urged the resource persons to create a friendly learning environment that would foster effective interaction and exchange of ideas between them and the participants.

     M. Festus Dakorah Dordah, Regional NFED Coordinator noted that the division considered capacity building of their human resource as key to effective delivery.

He said the training workshop was therefore meant to equip the facilitators with up to date knowledge and skills to deliver on the job.

He said the workshop would offer the facilitators the opportunity to bring out the challenges they encounter in the discharge of their duties to be addressed.

Mr Aloysius Badu Attoh, NFED Field Operations Officer said non formal education required continuous learning to upgrade skills and facilitators should therefore take the workshop seriously.
