GOIL LPG outlets not on strike

Accra, May 22, GNA – The Ghana Oil Company Limited (GOIL) LPG outlets throughout the country are not on strike, “GOIL Gas stations are doing business and selling gas to the public,” GOIL stated in Accra on Tuesday.

“GOIL will continue to be of service to the general public and assures the consuming public of uninterrupted service at all times…we have the capacity to serve the public,” GOIL Public Affairs Department stated in a statement to the Ghana News Agency in Accra.

The Petroleum Gas Operators Association (PGOA) has declared an indefinite strike in protest against claims that government had refused to halt the implementation of the cylinder recirculation module, which it claimed would adversely affect their members.
GOIL the nation’s foremost indigenous Oil Marketing Company and the largest OMC in the country has however distanced itself from the PGOA strike.

The Company has maintained its market leadership in gasoline, premix, LPG, bunkering and lubricants since 2002 and has respectable positions in all other products it marketed.
In a related development the National Petroleum Authority (NPA) in a statement, directed the consuming public to some retail outlets which still operated regularly and sold gas to the public.

The NPA affirmed that all GOIL LPG; and All Hills Oil LPG stations across the country were also not part of the strike.

The NPA statement noted that the government would prioritise the health, safety and security over any considerations and accordingly urged the public to bear with the situation and look out for stations that were still in operations.
“In the meantime, the public will be informed of areas where they can locate stations that stand in solidarity with their health, safety and security and continue to provide their services,” the statement noted.

Meanwhile Torgbi Adaklu V President of the Ghana LPG Operators Association, (GLiPGOA) explained that members were left with no choice than to embark on the industrial action.
