Berekum (B/A), Nov. 27, GNA – Mirikesie Nana Okoffo Darteh Kumtwie Sasraku III, Gyaasehene of the Berekum Traditional Council, has called on political parties to be mindful of who they select to man the various polling stations.
Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, he called for the immediate removal of corrupt polling agents before the polls begin.
Nana Okoffo Darteh said that it would be difficult for the elections to be rigged if political parties selected polling agents who were credible.
“How will you achieve desirable results if you take drunkards and people of questionable character to the polling station to observe proceedings and testify accurately,” he said.
Nana Gyaasehene advised various party executives to deploy sound and decent agents for the exercise and provide them with the appropriate motivation to focus on their duty.
He refuted the assertion that Berekum was a flashpoint as far as the December polls were concerned; declaring that the dear populace regarded themselves as one people, notwithstanding their political affiliations.
