Asuom (E/R), Aug 04, GNA – An GHȼ85,000.00 building constructed to provide the police in Asuom in the Kwaebibirem District with adequate office space for their smooth operation has been inaugurated at a ceremony.
The project was funded by Serendipalm Company Limited – millers and exporters of palm oil.
The police had since 1955 been operating in a rented premise in the town and the Asamankese Divisional Commander, Chief Superintendent Wisdom Akorley, who was on hand to inaugurate the structure, said it was a huge relief.
He applauded the company for the gesture and invited other businesses in the area to help give decent accommodation for officers posted to the place.
He noted that a strong police presence was a deterrence to crime and provided re-assurance to the people of their safety.
He encouraged the people to continue to cooperate and support the police through useful leads to keep the crime rate down.
Madam Faustina Korantemaa-Addo, the District Chief Executive (DCE), promised that the assembly would do everything to assist build residential accommodation for the police.
She announced the supply of 50 bags of cement to start work on the housing project.
Mr. Carlos Ahenkorah, Chairman of Board of Directors of the Kwaebibirem Rural Bank, said the bank was helping the police in Asuom, Kade and Asamamkese out with fuel to run their official vehicles.
