Accra Poly holds awards ceremony for Student athletes

   Accra, Aug. 1, GNA – Accra Polytechnic, one of Ghana’s foremost Polytechnics has held its second Sports Awards ceremony to acknowledge the efforts of its gallant athletes whose contribution has put the institution ahead of its peers.

   Accra, Aug. 1, GNA – Accra Polytechnic, one of Ghana’s foremost Polytechnics has held its second Sports Awards ceremony to acknowledge the efforts of its gallant athletes whose contribution has put the institution ahead of its peers.

     The event held at the Institution’s auditorium was also to serve as a source of motivation and inspiration to the athletes and coaches for their splendid performance and aspire to achieve success for the school in up-coming competitions.

     The awards went to athletes, who won laurels for the school during the Takoradi GHAPSA games 2013, Kumasi GHAPSA games 2013, Accra WAPOGA games 2015 and the UPAC 2015/2016 games.

     It was 5,000m runner, Prosper Goku and footballer Alberta Asante, who went home with accolades for their sterling performance in all the competitions.

     The duo also won the best male and female athletes. Goku and Asante were rewarded with a trophy each and an undisclosed amount of cash prize.

     Some of the awardees included Barbara Mensah, Nana Shika Edu, Robert Kpodo, Evra Soyia, Aminu Ibrahim, Seth Okai as well as coaches of the various disciplines.

     Speaking at the event, the Dean of Students of the Polytechnic, Mr Stephen Kudadze said he is proud of the successes chalked by the athletes and congratulated the whole team for their immense output.

     “I’m excited about the achievement of our athletes. From the year 2013 to 2016 Accra Polytechnic has enjoyed success in sports to the envy of many and this number would have not been possible without the effort of our coaches. Today is the day we are celebrating for all the sacrifices.”

     “I want to say a special thank you to all of you for the part you played in writing this history’’.

     The Sports Manager of the School, Mr Prince Boadi also thanked the staffs coaches and drivers for their hard work in ensuring the success of the sports team.
