Agona Swedru, July 28, GNA- A total of 373 names have been expunged from the National Voters Register in the Agona West Constituency of the Central Region.

The affected persons used the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) Identification Cards to register in 2012 when the Electoral Commission (EC) conducted the voter registration exercise.
Mr Anobil-Forson, Agona West Director of the EC, made this known to the media at Agona Swedru.
The deletion of the names has been necessitated following the Supreme Court ruling ordering the EC to remove the names of persons who used the NHIS cards to register.
Mr Anobil-Forson said the deletion of names of the deceased was being done at the exhibition centers with burial and death certificates as well as obituary posters as evidence.
He called on the people to endeavour to check their names at the on-going voter exhibition exercise to avoid being disenfranchised.
As at July 27 a total of 219 people have been registered since the exercise begun on 18th of July, 2016.
Mr Anobil- Forson urged the people, who have not registered to take advantage of the exercise to do so before the close of August 7, 2016
