Accra, July 22, GNA — Mrs Abigail Mary Larweh, Head teacher of Base Ordnance Depot (BOD) Basic School in Accra, has appealed to the government to help re-grass the school’s playing field to enhance effective teaching and learning.
She said the dusty playing field was not only disrupting academic work but it also poses a health hazard to both the pupils and the staff.
Mrs Larweh made the appeal in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Thursday.
She said the school, which was established in 1975, had turned out many graduates some of whom are occupying key positions in the country.
Mrs Larweh said the school authorities had made several appeals to the government to have the field re-grassed but to no avail..
She said on some occasions the pupils had to abandon classes and sprinkle the field with water before classes could resume.
Mrs Larweh commended the Parent-Teacher Association and the Old Students Association for providing the school with a library and a computer laboratory and appealed to other stakeholders to assist the Kindergarten Department.
