Takoradi, Oct. 2, GNA – The Western Regional Office of the Ghana Road Safety Commission (NRSC) on Tuesday awarded some transport unions and individuals in the region for their efforts at reducing road accidents and carnage on the roads, at a ceremony in Takoradi.
The State Transport Company, Ghana Haulage Company, City Express, PNC Diplomat, and Ghana Private Road and Transport Union were presented with certificates and educational materials worth GHC7, 000.
Alhaji Sumani Mbo, Western Regional Manager of the NRSC, called on stakeholders in the transport sector to work as a team to improve the sector.
He said this year’s event, held on the theme: “Sustainable Growth of the Road Transport System-The Role of Road Safety”, was to encourage transport unions to work harder to prevent road accidents and carnage on the roads.
The Reverend Emmanuel Boamah Agyekum, Member of the Regional NRSC, said a national training workshop would be organised for members of transport unions to update their knowledge and skills in road safety.
