Farmers at Kenyasi petition President over lost money

 

Sunyani, Jan. 31, GNA – Some farmers at Kenyasi in Asutifi District of Brong Ahafo Region have petitioned the President to help them to retrieve their monies from the liquidated Kenyasi branch of Tano Rural Bank.

EPA seizes a can of diesel

 

 epa 1  Koforidua, Jan. 24, GNA – The Eastern Regional Office of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has confiscated a can of diesel from a woman who was selling the commodity in her house at Kokom-Kwamoso near Adawso.
     Mr Felix Addo-Okyireh, the Regional Director of the EPA, expressed worry over the sale saying that it posed danger to her entire household and the general public.

Rev. Degbe urges Ghanaians to ensure peaceful elections

 

4001.725830Accra, Jan. 19, GNA – Reverend Dr. Fred Degbe, Chairman of Ghana Anti Corruption Coalition (GACC), on Thursday urged Ghanaians to unite to ensure the country remained orderly and peaceful during and after Election 2012.

“This is our country and we must endeavour to safeguard it,’ he added.

Rev. Degbe made the call at the signing of an Integrity Pact, between GACC and 14 youth groups in the country, to promote peace during the elections.

It is a follow-up to workshops organises by GACC, in five Regions to promote peaceful elections through the involvement of youth groups.

Fire ravages property in four Bosomtwe communities

 

  fire1Kuntanase (Ash), Jan 16, GNA – Fire has destroyed property in four communities at Bosomtwe over the past two weeks,   Mr Raphael Anane, the District Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), has said.

     He named the communities as Aduaden, Pramso, Behenase and Kuntanasen and items gutted included two houses, a 15-acre palm plantation and personal effects such as clothing, fridges, t television  sets, furniture and domestic animals.

      Mr Anane said the cause of the fire was yet to be determined and that but for the swift response of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), cocoa stocked in a shed at Kuntanase would have been completely burned when the shed caught fire.

Wenchi gets a Disabled Centre

 

Wenchi (B/A) Jan. 15,GNA – A craft training centre christened “Young City”, has been established at Wenchi in the Brong-Ahafo Region  to assist persons with disabilities to learn vocations.

    The Centre was set up by Rural Youth Association of Ghana, an NGO, to  help the Disabled quest for a dignified life.
