President Mills meets Council of State Members, Ministers and officials of the Presidency

 

imagesPeduase (E\R), Jan. 24, GNA – President John Atta Mills on Tuesday met Members of the Council of State, some Ministers and officials of the Office of the President at the Peduase Lodge to deliberate on issues of national concern.

     In attendance at the meeting which would also take stock of the activities of Government in the last year was Vice President John Dramani Mahama.

     Some of the Ministers present were Dr Benjamin Kumbuor, Minister  of the Interior who is also Acting Minister of Justice and Attorney General, Mr Kwesi Ahwoi, Minister of Food and Agriculture, the Deputy Minister of Finance, Mr Seth Terkper and Mr Kofi Armah Buah, the Deputy Minister of Energy.

Government to construct 22 major roads in Eastern Region

 

road construction1Kwahu-Nketepa (ER) Jan. 19, GNA – Dr Kwasi Akyem Apea-Kubi, Eastern Regional Minister, has indicated that government is sourcing for funds for the construction of 22 major roads in the region including the 32- kilometre Adawso-Nketepa-Mpaem road.
    He has therefore appealed to communities living along that road to exercise patience since the project had not been abandoned by government as being speculated.

Government to rehabilitate Vea Irrigation Canals and Laterals

 

Mark Woyongo NBolgatanga, Jan 15, GNA – Government has pledged to rehabilitate the Vea Irrigation Canals and Laterals, which have not seen any major repairs since it was constructed in the 1970s.

     The Upper East Regional Minister, Mr Mark Woyongo gave the assurance when members of the Bongo Amalezale Cooperative Farmers Society (BONACOFSO), a farming cooperative society, presented a petition to him at the weekend on the need to rehabilitate the project.

     According to the farmers the canals and laterals were aged and most of them broken down and that when water was discharged from the dam it does not get to the farms.

Government team discusses economic situation with stakeholders

 

img.myghana.tvAccra, Jan. 14, GNA – The Government has assured the public that it has put in place a mechanism to ensure that further increases on the world prices of crude oil will not affect fuel prices locally.
     A statement issued in Accra on Saturday signed by Mr Baba Jamal said the assurance was given at a meeting on Friday between the government’s economic management team and stakeholders
to discuss the current economic situation in the country especially the recent fuel price increases.
     The statement said the meeting, which was frank and fruitful, discussed the effects of the recent fuel price increase and the reasons that occasioned it.
