Book on role of the church in nation's history launched


Kumasi, Feb 10, GNA – A 127-page book that traces the history of the nation and the role played by the church has been launched in Kumasi to coincide with the year-long Golden Jubilee celebration of the Bible Society of Ghana (BSG).

Titled “Entrusted with the Word”, it was authored by the Reverend Professor David Nii Anum Kpobi, a lecturer at the Trinity Theological Seminary.

It is in five chapters and comes with historic pictures of some key personalities and events and the first copy was actioned for GHȼ5,000.00

The Rev Dr. Abamfo Ofori Atiemo, a Senior Lecturer at the University of Ghana, launching it, applauded the writer and said the book provided useful insights into the BSG.

It brings the past alive and helps the reader to visualize and appreciate the story better.

Mrs. Efua Ghartey, Chairperson of the BSG, hailed it as a dream come true.

She said she was excited that there was now a book written on the society and its activities over the years.

She announced plans to build a retreat centre for relaxation and spiritual meditation.

The Rev Prof Kpobi advised the Society to establish an archive and a library for referencing.
