“NDC is on track to secure gargantuan victory”- President Mahama

Accra, Sept. 18, GNA- President John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had put in place adequate measures to secure a massive victory in the December 7 general election.

“Our party is rejuvenated and Ghanaians know what the late President John Evans Atta Mills has done and what I can do for the country, and I assure all of you that come December 7 this year, NDC will emerge victorious over other the contestants.”

President Mahama said this when he officially endorsed Vice President Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah Arthur as his running mate for the December 2012 general election in Accra.

The outdooring ceremony was attended by NDC Regional Chairmen, supporters, sympathisers and other party executives, who were all dressed in party colours and paraphernalia to make the occasion eventful.

There were also supporters drumming and dancing within and outside the National Theatre, who went frenzy when the President arrived with intermittent shouts of “Ede bi keke, one touch and Mahama is a winner.”

President Mahama said the endorsement of Paa Kwesi Amissah as his running mate was the upshot of series of meetings he had held with the Council of Elders of the Party, National Executive Council, among others, to endorse his candidature.

“I had to meet with the Council of Elders of the Party, National Executive Council members, who have all given massive endorsement for the partnership and it is only fair that we outdoor him with other party members to know what the hierarchy of the party has agreed on,” he added.

President Mahama said he and the party hierarchy had a lot of confidence in the Vice President on account of his economic prowess and hoped the partnership would yield the desired dividends in the December polls.

He said he had already handed the economic management of government to Vice President Amissah because of his proficiency in economics and gave the assurance that they would put smiles on the faces of Ghanaians after the December elections.

Dr Kwabena Adjei, Chairman of the NDC called for unity and hard work to win the elections in the first round of the December polls, to give them the opportunity to complete all the projects that were initiated by late President Mills.

The programme was also attended by Ministers of State, Members of Parliament, Party executives and foot soldiers across the country.
