Accra, July 1, GNA-The National Executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and other party stalwarts, have sympathised with the widow and family of the late Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur.
Mr Kofi Portuphy, Chairman of the NDC led the party’s delegation to the North Ridge residence of Mr Amissah-Arthur who passed away in the early hours of Friday.
Other members of the delegation included Mr Kofi Adams, National Organiser of the NDC, Mr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, First Vice Chairman of the NDC, Mr Solomon Nkansah, National Communication Officer of the NDC, Mr Kofi Attoh, Director of Diaspora Relations of the NDC, Ms Anita Desoso, Second Vice Chairperson of the NDC among others.
Other NDC stalwarts who visited to commiserate with the family include Prof Kwesi Botchwey, former Minister for Finance, Nana Oye Lithur, former Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Mr Kwame Peprah, former Finance Minister, Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyeman, former Minister for Education etc.
Nana Ato Arthur, a former Chief of Staff on behalf of the family welcomed the delegation and briefed them on events surrounding Mr Amissah-Arthur’s death.
The delegation was led to Mrs Matilda Amissah-Arthur, the wife of the departed former Vice President where they took turns to commiserate with her.
Mr Portuphy and the other executives of the party later signed a book of condolence, which had been opened at the residence for sympathisers and well-wishers to express their grief.
Mr Amissah-Arthur reportedly collapsed in the early hours of today at the Air Force Base gym in Accra.
