Microsoft supports Ghanaian athlete for Special Olympic Games


Accra, Mar. 14, GNA- Microsoft Ghana , has announced a sponsorship package for a member of Ghana’s Special Olympics team, Mr Isaac Otchere- Quansah to participate in the 2017 Special Olympic World Winter Games in Austria.

     According to Microsoft, the Mission 3000 Challenge, is an initiative to support about 30 athletes from the globe and the Otchere- Quansah was selected.

     The Country Manager of Microsoft Ghana, Mr Derek Appiah, explained that the athlete has established himself as a floorball athlete with his splendid performance.

     He said the support includes ticketing, medication, logistics, per diem and any other support required by the athlete.

      “We’re excited to support Isaac and we look forward to engaging him and Ghana’s Special Olympics team on this journey to the 2017 Games in Austria.

     “At Microsoft, we believe diversity makes our work and communities grow stronger. That’s why we are proud to support Special IOlympics and their athletes in pursuit of their passions in sport and beyond in the lead0-up to the Games” he said.  

     Director of Sports at Ghana’s Special Olympics, Mr Kobina Baidoo also thanked Microsoft for their contribution towards their participation and assured them of winning laurels for the country.

     “We are proud of our association with you for the Games and the support you have given us will go a long way to help the team and also take care of some of our budgetary challenges,” he added.

     He also said they will do their best to cultivate this relationship so that they prosper together and jointly support the development of Special Olympics in Ghana.

     On his part, Otchere- Quansah, also appreciated the support and appealed to other corporate bodies to support his team saying “we will be bringing a gold medal back home”.
