Anita eyes medal in 100 meters race on Sunday

London, Aug. 31, GNA - Ghana's paralympic athlete, Anita Fordjour has said her best was to grab a medal in the women's 100 meters (T53) category on Sunday, at the Olympic Stadium in Stratford, and she will also geared up to compete in the 200 meters.

Fordjour, who will enter the race on Sunday, alongside eight other nationals with a track record of being the number four in the world, told GNA Sports that even though she is competing in both 100 and 200 meters, her best bet is the 100 meters, because she is better in that category.
She reckoned that there were other good athletes in the same category from China, Mexico and Australia who could pose a great challenge to her ambitions but noted that she is up for any form of challenge.
"I came here to compete and improve upon my time and record so I am not bothered by any form of challenge from any country.
"I hope to put Ghana on the medal table as I have done in India at the Commonwealth Games and Mozambique in the All Africa Games". Fordjour stated.
According to Fordjour she has had the best of preparations in the past weeks and believes this will be translated into successful performance on Sunday.
"I think our early arrival here has also helped us to acclamatise well and this will enhance our chances of getting to the desired target." She stated.
Fordjour, who will be competing in the 200 meter race later told the GNA Sports that  the race is also key on her plans and hopes to perform well there as well.
"Yes my best bet is the 100 meters but 200 meters is also on my mind. It will be fine if I end up with medals in both categories.
"I know i can make it with an extra effort and with prayers from Ghanaians i will make the nation proud". Fordjour added.
