Amuzu – one of the nations’ potential world beaters

Accra, July 9, GNA – Ghana is abound with a lot of sporting talents in almost every discipline and one of such talents is Middleweight boxer, Ernest Amuzu, a former member of the National Amateur Boxing team, the Black Bombers, who has since his amateur days exhibited his potentials of becoming a world champion one day.
Amuzu, who has a rich record of participating in the Commonwealth Games 2002, All Africa Games in 2004, and two African Championships in 2003 and 2005, has given strong indications of his readiness for tougher challenges ahead of him.
He told GNA Sports that he has what it takes to win a world title for Ghana in the shortest possible time.
“I have always had the dream of being a world champion and I know I have what it takes to win a world title one day in my career.
“I have taken enough tutelage in basics of boxing from Professor Azumah Nelson and he has also inspired e much in my career. I believe I am now prepared to take on whatever challenge that comes my way”. He stated.
Amuzu, however, reckons that he has to be the national champion before making an attempt at the international level, but he noted that most of the boxers in his division have been avoiding him.
“There have been several attempts to pair me with the current national champion, but he has refused to fight me but I believe the perfect opportunity will come for me to take a shot at the national title.” He stated.
The 29 year old hard puncher, who has a lot of energy and fights with a lot of precision, was recently offered an opportunity to fight for the World Boxing Council (WBC) Youth Intercontinental Super Middleweight title against Alptug Oner of Turkey but the fight was cancelled at the last minute, adding that even though he was disappointed, he believes the right opportunity will come soon.
Amuzu, who now trains with Fit Square Boxing Gym told the GNA Sports he is confident of being a world champion in the shortest possible time when given the opportunity to exhibit his prowess in the ring.
