Accra, Oct. 6, GNA – Liberty Professionals were held to a 1-1 draw by visiting King Faisal in the 2012/2013 Premier League opener on Saturday at the Sly Tetteh Stadium in Dansoman.
Both goals came in the first half of the game that saw the premiership returnees giving a good account of themselves and further making clear their intent to dine with the big guns of Ghana football.
Parading a side depleted by the departures of Issah Yakubu and Latif Salifu to Asante Kotoko and Berekum Chelsea respectively, the hosts were in control in the opening minutes and it was only a matter of time that the opener would come.
On 16 minutes, midfielder Kennedy Ashia shot Liberty Professionals into the lead finishing off a move with Fuseini Zubeiru as the other actor.
Six minutes later, Prince Boateng, whose two goals in the National Middle League play-off against Sekondi Hasaacas powered King Faisal back into the premiership drew parity capitalising on a lapse by the Liberty Professionals defence.
The second half saw a balanced action as both teams failed in their quests to wrestle the three points from the countable chances that came their way.
