Kotoko subdue WAFA to keep title hopes alive

Kumasi, March 15, GNA – Asante Kotoko S/C registered a 63rd minute goal to record a 1-0 victory over visiting WAFA in a Ghana Premier League Match Day Seven encounter at the Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi, on Wednesday.

The only goal came from a tactical change in the second half and saw substitute Sarfo Gyamfi connecting home an Eric Donkor’s corner kick.

WAFA, in the first half, held their own against the Porcupine Warriors, matching them squarely in the midfield and this saw the two teams creating fewer chances to end the session.

The homers took control of the game at this stage, attacking their opponents from the flanks, and in a daring move by Mahama, the defencemen of WAFA cleared the ball to corner, resulting in the only of the match in the 63rd minute.

WAFA’s Gideon Waja nearly leveled the scoring for the visitors in the 89th minute, but his long-range drive was saved by goalie Felix Annan.
