Accra, March 24, GNA – Ghana has been booked to host regional makeup and beauty fair in April, to showcase and connect local cosmetics and beauty practitioners to African and global consumers, vendors, partners and service providers.

The maiden exhibition would bring together professionals, brands, beauty retailers, fashion and beauty content creators under one umbrella to drive the local industry.
Components of the fair would include Makeup and Beauty Products; Skincare and Personal care; Wellness and Spa; Hair and Haircare products; Makeup tools and accessories; Services and Education; Nails and Salon supplies; Machinery, packaging and raw materials.
Mrs Rebecca Donkor, the Chief Executive of Makeup Ghana – event organisers – told the Ghana News Agency that her cosmetics organisation aims to create a unifying platform for stakeholders in the country’s emerging beauty industry to flourish.
“Our events and industry knowledge make us well placed to provide an audience of young women interested in fashion, beauty and lifestyle products and services as evidenced by our over 23,000 followers on Instagram.”
Mrs Donkor said the fair was as a result of feedback and persistent requests by exhibitors and attendees of its first event – Makeup Ghana Connects – held in March 2016 in Accra.
“The consensus was for an expanded continent-wide focused event, bringing together the African Makeup and Beauty industry…and we are delivering as requested.”
The Makeup Ghana Connects featured 30 Exhibitors and over 500 attendees, according to officials of Ghana’s beauty organisation.
But in this continental fair, Ms Donkor said, “We are anticipating about 100 exhibitors and over 2,500 attendees.”
The fair would cover a number of sessions including exhibitions, workshops and seminars, training, makeup and beauty shows, live demos, expert consultations, discount sales, product launches and celebrity appearances.
She noted that the sessions would provide a variety of marketing opportunities for makeup and beauty practitioners, businesses and brands of the African makeup and beauty industry.
“Our workshops and seminars including the live demos are free events which will attract audiences seeking to meet their favourite makeup artists, start their own makeup or beauty practice or a small business.
“Training events are tailored towards industry practitioners who are likely to benefit the most from these sessions.”
Sections of the exhibition would be showcased by the final year students of beauty and makeup schools, which is expected to draw crowds of current and past students and user generated content on social media.
Bridal Makeup and Beauty with Special FX makeup would be displayed by category winners of the Ghana Makeup Awards 2016.
Celebrity and Editorial makeup and beauty will be by category winners and the overall Makeup Artist of the Year for Ghana Makeup Awards 2016.
Makeup Ghana is a social enterprise creating a unifying platform for stakeholders in the emerging and fast growing beauty industry in Ghana and bring together cosmetics professionals, makeup brands, beauty retailers and fashion and beauty content creators in Ghana under one umbrella.
