Accra, Sept 17, GNA – Samsung Electronics Company Limited has expanded its range of low-end mobile phones with the introduction of the Samsung Chief Hero, designed for Africans.
The Samsung Chief Hero supports GPRS dual band technology and comes with a 1000mAh battery to enable users enjoy 11-hour talk time and 550 hours of standby time and with the Dual-SIM ‘Always On’ functionality, one will never miss a call.
A significant percentage of mobile phone users in Africa carry multiple SIM cards to take advantage of the different pricing plans on offer from the various operators.
By allowing these users to automatically switch between two SIM cards without having to carry an additional handset or turn off the phone to swap SIM cards, Samsung is helping to meet a critical need in the market with Smart Dual SIM technology which allows both SIM cards to be active and ‘always on’.
It comes with the 1.8” TFT screen, MP3, and FM Radio and also supports Java so help users easily share their life with friends using Facebook JAVA, enjoy web browsing, and messaging.
Following the successful launch of the Chief range this year, Mr Ryan Na, Marketing and Sales Senior Manager of Samsung Ghana, said there was the need for a mobile phone that suits the unique needs of Africans saying “the Samsung Chief Hero mobile phone is a Smart dual-SIM phone that is target at these markets”.
“Whether users want to take advantage of different call plans, or want to keep their business and personal calls separate, Always On Smart dual-SIM handsets provide the convenience of two cell phones with one-mobile solution.
There is a perception that low-cost mobile phones are not reliable. Samsung is proud to say that the Chief Hero is not only cost-effective and reliable, but it is also ultra-durable – and with great battery life – the Samsung Chief Hero is certainly designed with the African consumer in mind,” he said.
To market the Samsung Chief Hero effectively, Samsung has partnered with Airtel to provide a winning value proposition to the consumer.
It comes with an Airtel Sim Card that would give costumers 8 cedis worth of Airtime (96 minutes of free airtime) and 100MB of data as long as one recharge with as little as 5 cedis every month for 6 months.
