Accra, Sept 3, GNA - The National Lottery Authority (NLA) has called on the public to support the authority to maintain its integrity in the lottery industry.
Mr Kplorlali Shine Gbologa, in charge of Sales and Corporate Planning, NLA said the authority would not renege on its mandate to protect the interest of all stakeholders.
Mr Gbologa was speaking at the draw of Total Ghana Petroleum Limited (TGPL)’s “Drive and Win Draw” in Accra.
He said one could not underscore the fact that the regulatory and supervisory function of the Authority were necessary conditions for the conduct of lottery in that they created the conducive environment for the conduct of lottery.
Mr Gbologa said it was for that reason that in recent times the Authority had stepped up its efforts to regulate and supervise activities in the industry.
He said, however, that the NLA was convinced that the collaborations would also help ensure sanity within the legal space of the National Lotto Act 722, 2006 that set it up.
“The NLA will therefore provide the platform for organizations which want to grow their businesses to have the opportunity to do so in association with it.
"The National Lottery Authority is happy to be associated with the ‘Drive n win promotion’ as a Regulator and Operator of Lotto and other lottery activities.”
According to him, the primary objective of the Authority was to demonstrate its preparedness to partner institutions from the private sector whose promotional activities could be classified as lottery as defined by the law.
“Difficult as it may seem or sound for private operators, the NLA is pleased to say that it is possible to collaborate or partner with institutions whose core activities are not in the domain of lottery.
This is a living example and many more are in the pipeline,” he added.
Mr Gbologa said the Authority had taken steps to create two platforms in addition to the ongoing lottery points of sale project to open up for collaboration in lottery.
He explained that one of such platforms was the CARITAS LOTTERY platform. I
It was in accordance with the provisions set in the National Lotto Act 722 to conduct lottery with the aim of offering support to the less privileged in society, that the NLA introduced the Caritas-Lottery.
According to him, that platform was available for both the NLA and other well meaning organizations and Ghanaians who might so wish to conduct a game of chance to help the needy in society.
One cannot underscore the fact that the regulatory and supervisory function of the Authority were necessary conditions for the conduct of lottery in that they created the conducive environment for the conduct of lottery.
"It is for this reason why in recent times the Authority has stepped up its efforts to regulate and supervise activities in the industry. However the NLA is convinced that collaborations of this nature will also help ensure sanity within the legal space of the National Lotto Act 722, 2006 that set it up.
"The NLA will therefore provide the platform for organizations which want to grow their businesses to have the opportunity to do so in association with it. In this regard we wish to invite all law abiding organizations like TOTAL for collaborations of this nature," he added.
