CITG conference ends with awards night

Accra, Sept 1, GNA - The 2012 Chartered Institute of Taxation, Ghana, (CITG) annual conference has ended with an awards night in Accra.

     The conference, which forms part of the institute’s awareness drive in the field of taxation, offered a good platform for interactions between tax administrators (Ghana Revenue Authority), tax payers, the CITG, tax practitioners, students and the general public.

     It was also to create awareness on tax policies and compliance and also to make tax laws attractive for effective compliance.

     Mr Abdallah Ali-Nakyea, Managing Consultant of WTS Nakyea and Adebiyi Consult, stressed the need to review tax laws periodically.

     He said the conference was to ensure that tax laws of Ghana and heads of tax consulting firms work hard to generate revenue for Government.

     Mr Ali-Nakyea noted that tax was a process, which needed its professionals to follow carefully to avoid losses of revenue for their clients and advised young professional to always go in for refresher courses.

     He said tax professionals had a number roles to play in helping their clients to pay not less than or more than their required taxes, adding that “As professionals let us help in protecting our clients.”

     Citations were given to founding members. Honorary awards went to headline sponsors, and specials wards and certificates to new members and students.
